Sourced from the Kenmare tea estate in the Nuwara Eliya district, a district located in the central highlands of Sri Lanka and known for producing a number of much-loved teas, Ceylon Nuwara Eliya BOP reveals the lovely, bright flavours of a classic Ceylon tea, which are enhanced wonderfully when allowed to infuse for around five minutes.
Ceylon, or Sri Lankan teas are characteristically light and delicate, revealing wonderfully sweet and fruity flavours. The “BOP” refers to a particular grade of tea, “Broken Orange Pekoe”, part of the Orange Pekoe category of tea grade, one of the highest black tea grades available. BOP leaves are indeed broken, allowing for a faster release of flavours and aroma during the brewing process, resulting in a stronger and robust flavour.
During production of Ceylon Nuwara Eliya BOP tea leaves are hand-plucked to ensure quality, before being processed using the traditional method of withering, rolling, and fermenting that gives the tea its wonderful, full flavour and delicate aromas.
